When the family decides to sell.
- The family has decided to sell, or has received an approach it wants to take seriously.
- No one in the office has run a sale process before.
- Several advisers are about to be appointed, and someone has to hold them together.
One thread through the sale.
We carry the process for the family and remain its voice at the table. Our promise is a process the family keeps in its hands, not a higher price: finding the buyer and negotiating the price is the work of the M&A adviser.
Before the process
We look for the sensitive points before a buyer does, to correct them or to decide how to present them.
During the process
We make sure the terms of the sale process are balanced, that the team can handle the due diligence with a clear head, and that the family's interests are protected throughout.
The advisers
We act as the conductor, so that each adviser can focus on their own expertise and bring the family as much value as possible, while the whole process moves forward in step.
After completion
Escrow, price adjustments and warranty periods, then the decision about what the office does next.
How it runs.
A first exchange
With a partner, ideally before an M&A adviser is appointed.
A letter of engagement
The scope and the steps, agreed before we start.
A partner on the family's side
From the preparation to the end of the post-completion period, with the family's advisers.
Questions we are asked.
-
01 Do you replace the M&A adviser?
No. The M&A adviser finds buyers and negotiates the price. We run the family's side of the process, coordinate the advisers and keep the family's interests at the centre.
-
02 When should we call you?
As early as possible. The earlier we start, the more can be prepared before a buyer looks at the business.
-
03 What happens after the sale?
We stay through completion and the period that follows, and help the family decide what the office does next.
